Daytona hosts The City Go-Kart Grand Prix

Daytona Motorsport was delighted to host The first ever City Go-Kart Grand Prix at Daytona Sandown Park today – featuring 26 Teams representing the City Livery Companies.

The event featured a two hour team endurance race on the 900 metre circuit in Esher, with 26 teams completing practice laps, qualifying and the main feature race – a two hour team endurance race in Daytona′s Sodi RT8 390cc karts.

The Lord Mayor was delighted with the choice of Daytona Sandown Park as the venue to host the first ever City GoKart Grand Prix; “Full marks to Daytona. They have looked after us incredibly well”.

After two hours racing in changeable conditions, the race was won by The Dowgate Dodgers by 48.53 seconds from Wet 10 with The Shipwrights third.

In the award ceremony, special awards included The Fastest Lap Award to the MG Racing team from The Glovers, the team from The Sheriffs received L Plates after finishing last by 28 laps and the Lord Mayor received The Special Toilet Seat Award after this team picked up two penalty flags.
