Team Brit take the final step towards claiming championship victory

Bobby’s Full-Circle Season: One Win Away from Glory at Brands Hatch

We caught up up with one of our favourite alumnus, Bobby Trundley, earlier this week to discuss his forthcoming final race in the Britcar Endurance Championship this Saturday. Racing for our friends, Team Brit alongside Asha Silva, the star pair have stormed through this championship and now with the last race of their campaign in sight, they are mere hours away from potential glory. In this brief chat on the eve of Bobby's practice session before the big day, we discussed their season so far - it's challenges and rewards as well as everything the team are doing to prepare for the highly anticipated final.

Bobby highlights, the opening round as a major learning curve. A new car, new competition, and a fresh dynamic pushed Bobby and the team to adapt quickly. But the payoff was swift, they picked up their first win right out of the gate. By Round Three at Silverstone’s GP Circuit, the team were in the swing of things and were able to cement their credibility amidst the series still competition, the pair took a commanding class victory and have continued to stay consistently at the sharp end ever since. The team’s dedication to development has been relentless. They’ve learned the car’s limits, pushed them, and created what Bobby fondly calls “a monster.”

Across the season, the results have reflected that momentum. Multiple podiums, relentless improvements, and standout drives. Thruxton was a particular highlight for Bobby, putting some serious points on the board, even after some tyre issues...

Heading into the final round at Brands Hatch, they hold a 10-point lead, but Bobby isn’t taking anything for granted. The nerves are real, but so is the excitement. Despite his championship-winning experience in DMAX championships at Daytona, a car title is a whole new beast and the next natural step for motorsport drivers. This could be his first, and one he desperately wants for the team that’s worked tirelessly by his side. We were proud to hear Bobby's comments highlighting Daytona as a loyal partner throughout his career, and that he’s eager to bring home the title not just for himself, but for everyone who’s backed him.

Behind the Build: The Car That’s Turning Heads

Though tight-lipped on specifics, Bobby did share teases about the technical upgrades: improved cooling, a custom oil breathing system imported from the U.S. (the only one of its kind in Europe), and a chassis that's been stripped back and rebuilt more times than he can count. It’s paid off - the 2-Series has been bulletproof all season.

The strategy for the decider? Calm, calculated, and composed. Keep the car clean, play defensively, and pull in the points they need. But there’s a clear goal: win one of the two 45-minute races and lock in the championship. The second race will be held under the lights. We can't say we're worried, having seen him thrive in changing conditions since he was knee high to a grasshopper. Most famously coming alive in the night stints of the 24-hour races. Although he did admit he’s not looking forward to the glare.

The Final Push: Back to Where It Began

As we neared the end of our conversation his race gear was packed, his alarm set for 5:30 a.m. before heading to Brands Hatch for testing. A documentary crew is following his journey as part of Racing on the Spectrum, a film following three neurodivergent racing drivers, produced by Citizen Films. This moment felt significant for us, having supported Bobby from his first days racing to now seeing him living the dream so to say, driving for Team Brit, fingers crossed on the precipice of his first title at this level. Brands Hatch holds something special for Bobby too, it was where he first competed in a car, and he’s raced there countless times in the simulator. Now, it's a full-circle moment. Winning the championship there would be the perfect ending to a breakthrough season.

But, there’s no room for error. Bobby highlight's the reputation of the circuit, notably the Paddock Hill Bend. He says, "One little mistake and your in the grass or the gravel. There is no margin for error."

We'll be following along with the race, and from seeing all the excitement of the season so far, we suggest you do too. For all the information you'll need on the team, what they stand for and how you can see them for yourself click here.
