Super Pole Qualifying
First group are out, Darby is fastest with a 1:00.8, Welch puts in a blistering time of 1:00.9 in the Heavy class! Fawdry and Strike are close in second and third. Fawdry puts in a 1:00.296. One more group to go. Cox is fastest with a 0:59.8 and takes pole. Fawdry is 2nd and Strike 3rd. In the heavies Welch is on Pole, Spencer is 2nd and Chapman in 3rd.
Cox gets off to a flying start and is away clean, there is lots of nudging for positions at the middle of the pack. As they come around the hairpin there’s contact. Tarrant tries a bold move at the hairpin but takes way too much contact and causes a collision. Out of the chaos Fawdry maintains second and Strike is still 3rd. A Black Flag is issued to Tarrant. With the heavies at the rear, Spencer has got passed Welch and is up to 1st. Welch gets it back a lap later. Cox is trying to extend his lead but Fawdry is right on his bumper. Fawdry is the fastest on circuit with a 0:59.8, but he can’t seem to find a way passed Cox. Spencer makes a dive out the way to avoid an incident in front of him, but ends up in a tyre wall and is now in 3rd in the heavies. Cox takes the win but only by 0.2 from Fawdry. 1 more lap and Fawdry would have got him. Strike is in 3rd. In the heavies Welch takes the win, Holliday is in second and Spencer recovered well and got back to 3rd.
Off the lights McCarthy gets a great run on Stewart in pole, and she finds herself in 1st going into Turn 4. Spencer and Holliday are neck and neck in the heavies, fantastic close fair racing. Cox is carving through the pack and is up to 5th already. There’s contact at the hairpin, its Tarrant again, not a good day at the office. He slows to a crawl to let the drivers passed he hit. He finds himself in last place as he tries to avoid another black flag. Fantastic race in the middle of the pack with Stansfield, Cook, Collins, Wade, Darby and Shepherd; less than a second splitting 6 drivers! McCarthy’s lead is cut down as Cox is now up to 2nd and reeling her in. Stewart has a queue of people behind him, but Strike cannot find a way passed. McCarthy holds out for the win, Cox in 2nd and Stewart takes 3rd. Spencer wins out in the heavies, but with Holliday only 0.5 behind, Chapman in 3rd.
Cox is on Pole, Fawdry second, Strike third. Cox gets away clean, but Fawdry and Strike are on his tail. Darby is up to 4th. Cook and McCarthy are neck and neck, each lap we have a new driver in 5th, neither seem to be able to make a move stick. Fawdry is on Cox’s tail, but similar story to the heats, Fawdry just can’t find a way passed. In the Heavies, Spencer is in a great battle for 1st with Welch and Holliday both looking for a way passed. Spencer and Welch find a bit more pace and it’s now a 2-way battle for the lead. Shepherd gets too much contact at T11 and is black flagged for advantage by contract, looks like driver error but clearly took the place. Cox is barely holding Fawdry off, with less than a hundredth separating them. Fawdry goes fastest of the day with a 0:59.7! Strike cannot catch the two at the front but has a good lead over the battle for 4th. Cook and McCarthy have been together for 8 laps, nothing is separating them! Chequered flag is out, Cox just takes the win, showing great discipline under huge pressure from Fawdry. Strike in a comfortable 3rd.
