Round 7 Race Report
Beautiful day for racing as we start the day with Cadet Heat 1. Cole gets a fantastic start to the race and gets up to 1st into turn 4. Dawson is on his tail, and not letting Cole go. Gould is up to 3rd with some great driving finding his way passed Lainchbury. McWilliam is showing great pace and is holding onto 3rd. Cole starts to pull away at the front with Dawson looking behind him defending to Gould. Gould brakes late at T4 and goes up the inside of Dawson, but Cole is too far in the lead to catch. Cole takes the win, Gould is second and Dawson is 3rd.
All the drivers are away clean, Halle-Hinxman is holding the lead as they head into lap 2 but Cole is putting him under pressure having got past Doyle at Turn 3. Cole gets Halle-Hinxman at Turn 4 and is in the lead. Halle-Hinxman receives a black flag for taking too much speed into a corner and taking out Tyler. Tyler unfortunately drops to last place. Cole has a comfortable lead at the front. Tyler is desperate to make up for being hit in lap 2 and is the second fastest on track, but he makes a dive into the hairpin and collides with Stanley. Tyler picks up a penalty of his own for the collision. At the front Cole takes the win, Halle-Hinxman finishes 2nd but will receive a 5-place penalty. Vickers was consistent and stayed out of trouble picking up 3rd.
It’s a clean start and a great start by Gould sees him up to first as he gets a quick run through Turn 3. Geraghty is holding his 2nd place, but is under pressure from Kafaie. Wilson starts to pick his way through the pack and is up to 4th. Kirkby and Davis are in a great battle for 5th. At the front Gould is pulling away and has a comfortable lead. Geraghty has broken away from Kafaie and is now comfortably 2nd. Wilson gets up to third place as he makes a great move round T6 on Kafaie. Gould takes a comfortable win, Geraghty is 2nd and Wilson takes 3rd.
Dorman gets away from pole cleanly. All the karts are close, there’s contact between all drivers, with Bumping Boards given out. Dawson is up to 2nd with Wilson holding a narrow lead having got passed Dorman. Tyler has received a black flag for an illegal overtake on Doyle, not a good day at the office for Tyler so far. Dawson has got round Wilson and is in first. Dawson takes the win, Wilson is second and Dorman holds on for third.
Jackson gets a clean get away, but gets caught at Turn 4 by McWilliam. Cole is the fastest driver on circuit and is carving through the karts in front. He’s up to 3rd and is challenging Jackson for 2nd. McWilliam looks over his shoulder and Jackson gets passed. McWilliam is defending from Cole but Cole is a clearly quicker than him and it’s only a matter of time before he finds a way passed. There’s a call for ‘No Blocking’ on McWilliam and Cole sneaks through. Jackson holds out for the lead, Cole is second and McWilliams is 3rd.
Lainchbury makes a great start and gets Gould on the outside of Turn 1 and is up to 2nd. Tyler holds the lead from pole. Halle-Hinxman and Geraghty appear to be working together to get passed the karts in front, getting passed Sanders and Kafaie. Gould has caught Tyler and makes a bold move at the hairpin, and is up to 1st. Lainchbury is catching Tyler in 2nd. Halle-Hinxman and Geraghty are now in a close battle with each other for 4th. Gould has set the fastest lap of the day and is pulling out a substantial lead at the front. Gould takes the win, Tyler holds out for 2nd as Lainchbury just couldn’t find a way passed and finishes 3rd.
Jackson gets a great start and is up the inside of Sanders at Turn 1, and at Turn 4 he dives up the inside of Shand and is up to 1st. Wilson is making similar progress and is up to 2nd coming into lap 3. Doyle is holding 3rd from Vickers. Vickers is putting Doyle under enormous pressure but Doyle keeps her cool. Wilson is desperately trying to get passed Jackson in 1st, but can’t find a way passed. Jackson wins by 1 tenth with Wilson in 2nd and Doyle holds off Vickers for 3rd.
Baughan, Swain and Davies are away clean but are three abreast around Turn 3 resulting in a group excursion to the tyre wall. McWilliam, Halle-Hinxman and Dawson are through to the front in the confusion. Davies is stuck in the tyres and needs a marshal to bail him out. Dawson’s in the lead, but makes a mistake at the hairpin to let Halle-Hinxman and McWilliam through. McWilliam is in the lead but a good recovery form Dawson puts him back in contention. McWilliam holds out for the win, with Halle-Hinxman and Dawson settling for 2nd and 3rd.
Tyler gets off the line clean and pulls out a small lead. Swain is holding his position in 2nd. Fantastic race for 3rd between Stanley and Davies. Baughan and Shand are having a great tussle for 5th. At the front, no one is stopping Tyler as he pulls out a comfortable lead, Swain is clear second but all eyes are on 3rd. Stanley is holding off Davies in 3rd. Tyler takes the win and earns promotion to the B final. Swain showed much improved form and finishes 2nd. Stanley holds on for third.
Great start for Dorman in 7th as he goes into 4th from the start, Geraghty is leading the race but is under pressure from Doyle and Lainchbury. Kirkby has got passed Kafaie and is up to 4th. Lots of positional changes at the front, Tyler is fastest on circuit and steams through up to 3rd. Halle-Hinxman is showing great pace and gets around Geraghty after an unusual mistake. Tyler and Doyle are wheel to wheel, but Tyler goes up the inside on the hairpin and pushed Doyle into the tyre wall. Black flag is called on Tyler, his torrid day continues – with that being his 3rd penalty of the day, that will result in 0 points scored for the round. Halle-Hinxman holds off Geraghty for the win with Tyler in 3rd on track.
Gould is in 1st after a great start from pole and gets away with a small lead. McWilliam makes a mistake at the hairpin and collects Wilson and Jackson, but he comes off worse and ends up in 6th. Dawson and Cole are having a fantastic race. Cole and Dawson set exactly the same lap time of 1:04.639 and are neck and neck. Coming into the hairpin on lap 3 Cole goes deep into the turn and Dawson pounces. Gould has a 6 second lead, but there is less than a second between 2nd to 5th. Fantastic racing from these young drivers. Gould takes the win, Dawson holds out for second and Cole holds third, Cole’s result is extra impressive after it appears he had a serious kart fault half way throughout the race. Great driving.

Palmowski gets the day running and gets off to a good start, Williams, from the back, carves his way passed Green and Sanders. Fitzpatrick is up to second getting passed Sanders and Edwards. Fitzpatrick makes a move on Palmowski and is into first, but Williams is in now hot pursuit. Williams gets the lead as he darts up the inside at Turn 4 on Fitzpatrick. Williams gets a comfortable win, Fitzpatrick is second and Sanders on his debut, fresh form Race School, holds out for third.
Heat 2 starts and Manton immediately pounces on Green and is up to 1st. Gould gets passed Green at Turn 4 and is putting Manton under pressure at the front. At Turn 9, Gould finds a way passed and takes the lead. Taylor and Whipday are over the back of Green and Manton. Whipday gets passed Manton and starts to hunt down Gould. Manton and Taylor battle hard for third. Whipday is fastest but can’t find a way passed Gould. Gould takes the win with Whipday second and Taylor just getting the better of Manton.
Davis and Williams are in a close tussle at the front. Davis goes up the inside at Turn 3 but gets it wrong, pushing Williams into the tyres. Williams recovers quickly but is at the back, Davis receives a black flag for the move. Manton takes the lead but is defending from Dunford and Shand who has come through after the mishap at the front. Manton and Palmowski are in a great tussle but collect each other at Turn 4 and Shand dives into the lead. A very messy race and the Race Director calls for a ‘calm down’ board to the entire field. Williams has recovered well and is on Davis tail. Williams makes contact with Davis at Turn 4, pushing him out into the tyres. Black flag for Williams! After a very messy race, Shand comes out the winner with Manton holding onto 2nd and Palmowski in 3rd.
Fitzpatrick gets a great start, pulling out a small lead into lap 2. Shand is chasing Fitzpatrick but struggling to keep with the pace of the leader. Green, Whitbread, Olner and Edwards are all battling for third. Great race for 3rd, but Fitzpatrick is running away with the race and Shand comfortably 2nd. Green finishes in 3rd with Fitzpatrick 1st and Shand 2nd.
Gould gets a good run through Turn 3 and into T4 and he’s up the inside of Dunford and into 1st. Dunford and Williams are in a fantastic race for 2nd. Taylor is caught up behind Davis who is racing very defensively. Gould is disappearing down the road, making up for the close battles behind him, into lap 4 he has a huge lead. Dunford and Williams continue to switch places, it’s anyone’s guess who will take 2nd. Gould takes the win, Dunford gets 2nd by less than a tenth and Williams is 3rd.
Whipday gets a good getaway from pole and sits in 1st through lap 1. Perry and Sanders are having a good battle for 2nd place. Davis and Fitzpatrick are close in 4th. Whipday is holding a small lead from Perry but Perry can’t seem to get passed. Sanders is now comfortably 3rd leaving Davis and Fitzpatrick fighting for 4th. Whipday takes the easy win, with Perry 2nd and Sanders 3rd.
Whipday, Dunford and Gould make a great start from the back of the grid and catch Olner and Shand napping. Gould has got passed Dunford and is looking for a way passed Whitbread in the lead. Turn 3 of the second lap, Gould makes a move round the outside and takes the lead. Whitbread is defending hard to Dunford. Whipday is getting frustrated in fifth place as he can’t get passed Shand. At the front Gould is way out in front. Dunford has got passed Whitbread and is pulling out a comfortable gap in 2nd place. Gould takes the win. Dunford is 2nd, and Whitbread in a fantastic 3rd. Whipday goes deep at the hairpin and collides with Shand. A black flag is called resulting a post-race 5-place penalty.
Taylor starts the race in pole and pulls out a small lead into lap 1. Manton has got passed Palmowski and Whitbread and is up to 3rd. Palmowski is keeping Whitbread behind her and is racing well. Taylor is now under pressure from Perry and Manton. A little glance over the shoulder from Taylor is a sign he knows drivers are breathing down his neck. Manton is fastest on track and catching Perry and Taylor. Into the final lap, Taylor is driving very defensively and Perry cannot find a way passed. Taylor takes the win, Perry is second and Manton runs out of race time to improve his third.
Palmowski is in pole for the C final, hoping to get a promotion to the B Final. She’s away clean, and leads into lap 2. Behind her, Whitbread, Davis and Green are having a close battle for 2nd. Whitbread falls back off the pace as Davis gets ahead of Green. At the front Palmowski is cruising and has a comfortable lead. Green make a great move on Davis at Turn 5 and slides up the inside, but it looks like Palmowski has got this in the bag. Davis and Green are catching Palmowski but with a 1.5 second lead they just can’t make a move for the win. Palmowski wins, Green is second and Davis is third.
They are all away clean but there is loads of contact but it appears to be just rubbing at this point, the ‘No Contact’ board is given out to all drivers. Manton has gone up the inside of Sanders at Turn 3 and carries more speed into turn 4, making two places in 2 corners! Sanders and Dunford are not letting Manton slip away and are pressuring for the lead. Palmowski makes a great move on Dunford getting up to 3rd. Manton holds out for the win, Sanders in a fantastic 2nd place on his InKart debut and Palmowski picks up some valuable championship points in 3rd.
Its Gould on pole position and he gets a clean getaway. Taylor and Whipday make a great start and get passed Shand and Fitzpatrick during the first lap. Manton is on a charge from the back of the grid and is up to 4th coming into lap 3. He gets passed Taylor and is looking for Whipday in 2nd. All the racing behind Gould is playing into his hands as he’s now just settling into his race stretching out a lead. Unbelievably, Manton is up to 2nd from the back of the grid. He’s second fastest on track but Gould has just broke the lap record and is flying out in front! Taylor and Whipday are letting Manton get away, too interested in their own battle for 3rd. Gould takes the win, Manton a fantastic second and Taylor wins the battle for 3rd.

Stansfield sets the fastest lap in the first Super Pole session with a 1:00.948. Before Matthew Spencer throws down a 1:00.710 in the Heavy class and takes provisional pole position. The second group is out and Woodman and Fawdry are in 3rd and 4th. Darby looks like he’s cruising near the back, maybe this is a strategy to get a good position for the second heat; a risky strategy. Andy Spencer goes quickest overall with a 1:00.422, Demetri Wade is up to 2nd and Matthew Spencer holds out for 3rd.
Andy Spencer makes a great start, Stansfield is up to 2nd getting passed Wade from the start. Munday is out of shape at the hairpin and collects Storey, a Black Flag is called for excessive contact. Matthew Spencer is out in front of the Heavies with a close race between Smith, Welch and Pete Darby fighting for second. Fawdry has fought through from 6th and is onto Stansfield. Fawdry gets a great run through Turn 8 and is side by side with Stansfield through T9, Fawdry keep his nerve and holds his line into T10, taking 2nd. Andy Spencer and Fawdry are stretching out a lead at the front, Fawdry is right on the back of Spencer. In the Heavies, M Spencer has a good lead with Smith losing touch of the 3rd place battle. Great battle between Spencer and Fawdry, but Spencer holds out for the win. Stansfield gets 3rd. In the Heavies, M Spencer gets a comfortable win with, Smith and Welch in 2nd and 3rd.
Both heats get away clean, Cook pulls out a small lead at the front. There is too much contact from the pack and the Race Director warns all drivers. There is a collision at the hairpin as 6 karts try to make it round the tightest corner. Race Control deem Walker to be at fault, diving up the inside and causing the collision. A black flag is issued. Inexplicably, Walker abandoned his kart at the outside of Turn one, seemingly unhappy with the decision from Race Control. The race at the front continues. Stansfield has made amazing progress and got passed Cook and finds himself at the front of the pack. The chasing pack of Cook, Darby, Spencer and Woodman are split by less than a second, it is anyone’s race! Matthew Spencer has got himself to the front of the Heavy drivers and has a 3 second lead. Chapman and Smith are fighting for second. Stansfield holds out for the win, Spencer is second and Cook is third. Matthew Spencer wins the heavies with Chapman second and Smith in third.
The lights are out and Stansfield is immediately pounced on by Fawdry, hes up to 2nd. Spencer is out in front with Fawdry breathing down his neck. Stansfield and Collins are in a close battle for 3rd. Matthew Spencer is running away with the Heavies race and has a clear 5 second lead coming into Lap 4. Welch, Smith, Holliday, Darby and Chapman are battling for 3rd. In the Lights, Spencer is under unbelievable pressure from Fawdry, there is literally millimetres between Spencer’s rear bumper and Fawdry’s front. Behind them is an 8-kart pack chasing them led by Stansfield. Wade, Cook, Bomberg, Woodman, and Goodman are having a fantastic fair race for 5th. All eyes are at the front, there only a few laps left, Fawdry has maintained his pressure but can’t seem to get passed Spencer. Into the last lap, looks like Spencer is going to take the win, but he goes deep into turn 5 and Fawdry dives up the inside. As they come round the hairpin they are neck and neck but Fawdry gets his nose in front and takes the win! Amazing Race! Collins has won the battle for 3rd. In the Heavies, Matthew Spencer runs away with it, but there is only 0.2 seconds between Smith and Welch. Welch gets a better run out of the hairpin and takes the second place on the line by less than 2 tenths. Smith takes 3rd.
