Round 9 Race Report – Cadet & Juniors Only
Andrew McWilliam starts in pole for the first heat of our Round 9 Cadet InKart Championship, all drivers have a nice clean start and all are evenly spaced. Liam Dorman takes 2nd place coming into T8, but then Lewis Tyler pips him and takes 2nd at T12. Abi Sanders then spins out on T2, it can be a nasty corner to handle! Meanwhile Liam Dorman and Joe Lorenz are battling it out at T12 for 3rd, which Liam takes but then both drivers spin! After this all drivers are evenly spaced out for the remainder of the race, Andrew McWilliam drives brilliantly and leads for the whole race. Phoebe Doyle and Joe Lorenz are having another close battle towards the back of the grid. The race finishes with Andrew McWilliam taking the win, Lewis Tyler taking 2nd and Alex Jackson getting 3rd.
Toby Purbrick starts heat 2 in pole position, but Sam Cole has a fantastic start moving from 4th position to 1st almost straight away! There is great tussle going on between Wesley Swain and Benjamin Dawson in P6 and P7 during the first lap. Sam Halle-Hinxman moves his way into 2nd place at T12 during the 2nd lap, Halle-Hinxman holds 2nd place up until T10 of the 3rd lap where Toby claims it back and manages to hold the pair of Halle-Hinxman and Dawson through the hairpin, Sam Cole is really stretching his legs ahead in 1st place! Dawson manages to claim 2nd place while moving through T2 and starts to pull away. There is now a close battle between Sam Halle-Hinxman and Ethan Kirkby for 3rd place. Both Sam and Ben have pulled away, and are comfortably in 1st and 2nd during the final lap. Sam and Ethan are still battling away for 3rd place, Sam manages to take 3rd on T4, then Ethan claims it on T6 and then Sam claims it back on T8! Sam then manages to hold 3rd place for the remainder of the race. The heat finishes with Sam Cole in 1st, Benjamin Dawson in 2nd and Sam Halle-Hinxman in 3rd, Ethan Kirkby following closely behind in 4th after a very good race with Sam.
Danny Gould starts in pole for this heat, all drivers got off to a clean start and the pack are very close together, Jacob Vickers gets into a little bit of trouble as he cuts the crass at turn 3 and then spins off. Gould is still holding 1st place while Benjamin Dawson and Sam Wilson battle it out for 2nd place. Wilson takes 2nd place going into lap 2, however Dawson soon reclaims 2nd place at T4. Dawson and Wilson are still close together and battling it out going into lap 4, as they begin to pull away from the rest of the grid. Cian Geraghty and Abi Sanders have a bit off a tussle going through Turn 5, in which Cian spins out. Gould, Wilson and Dawson are now miles ahead in 1st, 2nd and 3rd going into the last few laps of the race. Gould gets shown a ‘No Kerbing’ board but it doesn’t affect his race. There is a slight tussle towards the end of the race in which Jacob Vickers spins out. The race finishes with Gould, Wilson and Dawson claiming podium positions.
Lewis Tyler began this heat in pole, all drivers had a clean start and positions were held going into T2, with the pack separating going around T4. Going into the 2nd lap, Alex Jackson spun off at turn 3, which allows Jacob Vickers to take 2nd position from Joshua Burford. The weather conditions changed slightly going into the 3rd lap, as it started to lightly rain. Joshua Burford, Lewis Tyler and Sam Halle-Hinxman are all battling for 2nd during lap 3. During lap 4 Sam Halle-Hinxman receives a black and white flag for bumping, while Andrew McWilliam gets shown a no bumping board, Lewis Tyler then spins at the hairpin through his own fault, possibly due to the change in conditions. Jacob Vickers is miles ahead of the pack and comfortably in 1st place. Going into lap 5, Sam Halle-Hinxman takes 3rd position from Ethan Kirkby, Ethan then drops back into 5th place. Sam then moves past Joshua Burford and into 2nd place at turn 10, Andrew McWilliam then moves past Josh as he moves up into 3rd and Josh drops into 4th place. Alex Jackson receives a black flag for an ABC on Leo Davies at the hairpin. The heat finishes with Jacob Vickers in 1st, Sam Halle-Hinxman in 2nd and Andrew McWilliam in 3rd.
Sam Cole begun the 5th heat in pole position, he took a slight knock from behind from Dale Marie Lainchbury at the start but managed to hold his position and continue in pole for the remainder of the lap, it was a clean start for all other drivers. Coming around turn 10 Joe Lorenz gains advantage by contact on Phoebe Doyle however he gives the position back so escapes a penalty. Sam continues to be in 1st going into the second lap with Cian Geraghty in 2nd, Sam Wilson and Dale are battling for 3rd place going into this second lap. Onto the 3rd lap of the race and Sam Wilson catches up with Cian and Sam leaving Dale behind in 4th place. As they enter the final lap, Sam Cole and Sam Wilson are having a battle for 1st with a small amount of bumping, Wilson nearly takes Cole coming into T11, but Cole manages to hold 1st and take the win, with Sam Wilson in 2nd and Cian Geraghty in 3rd.
Sam Halle-Hinxman begins this race in pole, but from the start Danny Gould comes from 6th position straight into 1st with some brilliant work, leaving Sam in 2nd and Ben Dawson comes from 5th into 3rd again with some excellent work from the start. Wesley Swain and Abi Sanders are battling for 4th place going into the 2nd lap and it is a battle that Wesley wins. The heat remains as is until the chequered flag drops with Danny in 1st, Sam in 2nd and Ben in 3rd.
Libbie Andrew begins this heat in pole position, but Wesley Swain moves from 2nd into 1st right from the start, he begins to pull away going down the straight, as Libbie drops back. The rest of the group begin to catch him at turn 4, with Leo Davies being right on his tail. Lewis Tyler takes Leo Davies going into T10 and moves up into 2nd place and moving in on Wesley, Leo drops into 4th position as Joshua Burford moves into 3rd during the 2nd lap. Lewis Tyler catches up with Wesley and takes 1st going into lap 3 and beings to steam ahead down the straight going into turn 2, Wesley and Joshua continue to battle for 2nd, which Joshua wins as he moves into 2nd. Leo then receives a black flag during lap 4 for an ABC on Sam Cole at the hairpin. Moving into lap 5 Wesley manages to get 2nd place back, and going into lap 6 Cian Geraghty overtakes Joshua and moves into 2nd. Wesley, Cain and Joshua have a really good battle for the remainder of the race trying to hold their positions, unfortunately Cian loses out dropping back to 4th in the final lap of the heat, meaning it finishes with Lewis in 1st, Wesley in 2nd and Joshua in 3rd.
Phoebe Doyle begins this heat in pole, an exciting start to the heat as the pack stay together from start, down the straight and going into turn 3, they then begin to split going around turn 6. The positions have changed as they begin to group back together around the hairpin and Danny Gould comes steaming ahead under the gantry in 1st for lap 2 and he begins to pull away. Liam Dorman and Phoebe battle for 2nd place as they go wheel to wheel towards the end of lap 3, Phoebe loses this battle and ends up at the back of the group, Liam moves into 2nd but does receive a black and white flag for bumping. Going into lap 4 Danny remains in 1st, with Liam in 2nd but Andrew McWilliam is very close behind him in 3rd. The group begins to split during lap 5, and Andrew manages to take Liam and moves up into 2nd. Sam Wilson and Jacob Vickers are fighting together for 4th position and Sam takes Jacobs going into lap 7. All positions are held during the final lap apart from Jacob and Sam, Jacob manages to take back 4th just as they receive the chequered flag. The heat finishes with Danny in 1st, Andrew in 2nd and Liam in 3rd.
Phoebe Doyle begins this final in pole and holds this position from the start, with Alex Jackson in 2nd, Leo Davies moves up to 3rd from 5th during the 1st lap, this is the only change in positions for the first 3 laps. During lap 4, Leo Davies and Joe Lorenz are battling for 3rd, which Leo wins. All positions are held for the remaining 4 laps of the race, meaning it finishes with Phoebe 1st, Alex 2nd and Leo 3rd. Post-race, Leo Davies receives a penalty due to an ‘Advantage By Contact’ at the hairpin on the final lap, involving Joe Lorenz.
Jacob Vickers begins the B-Final in pole position, all drivers have a nice clean start and the pack are nicely spaced, there is then a coming together at Turn 9 with nearly all drivers involved! All drivers are okay however. After the incident Cian Geraghty, Ethan Kirkby and Phoebe Doyle have moved from the back of the grid in to 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Going into lap 2 Liam Dorman receives a black flag for an ABC at the hairpin. The positions remain the same for the remainder of the race, meaning it finishes with Jacob Vickers in 1st, Cian in 2nd and Ethan in 3rd, Jacob is therefore placed at the back of the grid for the A final.
There was a false start for this final due to a technical issue in race control, so the race was restarted, Danny storms into lead down the straight and gets well ahead. Andrew McWilliam overtakes Sam Cole and moves into 2nd position during lap 2. Jacob Vickers then manages to move up from 8th to 6th into lap 4. There are no further changes in position for the race and the group stays spread out in a stalemate. The final finishes with Danny taking 1st, Andrew 2nd and Sam 3rd.

Alisha Palmowski begins this heat in pole, all drivers have a clean start and Dillon Davis moves up from 5th to 3rd after some good work. He demotes Sam Edwards into 4th after William Green moved up into 2nd. Going into the 2nd lap Davis takes 2nd from Green on T11 but William wins the position back straight after on turn 12. Throughout lap 3, Alisha is still pulling away from the pack in 1st, Zak Summerill and Sam Edwards are battling for 4th and this continues into lap 4. In lap 5 Dillon takes 2nd from William at turn 11 and manages to hold this position and begins to pull away into the 6th and final lap of the race. The heat finishes with Alisha in 1st, Dillon in 2nd and William in 3rd.
Dillon Davis begins this heat in pole position, all drivers have a good start with Kyle Dunford making some good movement getting himself from 5th into 3rd by turn 4, and then moves into 2nd at turn 10, Benjamin Dawson has also managed to get himself up to 1st, all other drivers hold their positions going into lap 2. Drew Perry who had managed to get himself up into 4th from 6th on the grid, unfortunately loses this at turn 10 on the 3rd lap and is now back into 6th. Mark Whitbread spun out at turn 4 of his own accord during lap 4 and is now 6th which means Drew has moved back up to 5th. Going into lap 5 Ben is really pulling away in 1st, Alex Whipday and Kyle Dunford are battling between themselves for 2nd position, Kyle holds 2nd going into lap 6. Going into turn 1, Alex and Kyle are still tussling away, Kyle unfortunately spins out at turn 3 and moves back into 5th place after some brilliant racing. Due to this the heat finishes with Ben in 1st, Alex in 2nd and Dillon in 3rd.
Owen Fitzpatrick begins this heat in 1st, it’s an exciting start as Alisha Palmowski moves into 1st after a good move down the straight, Owen then receives a black and white warning flag for bumping, but remains in 2nd going around turn 4. Mark Whitbread moves closer to Owen and battles with him for 3rd. Going into lap 2 Alisha is still ahead in 1st, Oliver Manton has moved up a few places and is now in 2nd for lap 2, the group then begins to split around the lap. Owen, Mark and Thomas Alman have a tussle for 3rd around the hairpin in lap 3. Oliver is on Alisha’s tail now going into the lap 4, as the battle for 3rd continues. Oliver takes 1st from Alisha going around turn 4, which she takes back immediately. For the remaining laps, Oliver and Alisha are glued together but miles ahead of the group, everyone else remains in their positions while spaced out. The heat finishes with Alisha in 1st, Oliver in 2nd and Mark in 3rd.
The whole grid begins the heat in a close pack. Going into lap 3 Joe Williams, Oliver Manton and Sam Edwards battle hard together for position but the group splits into Turn 3. Joe and Oliver continue to battle for 2nd while Dillion Davis is all over Sam to try and gain 4th place. Going into lap 7 Oliver takes Joe for 2nd but Joe retakes the position on the final lap with the heat finishing with Danny Gould 1st, Joe Williams 2nd and Oliver Manton 3rd.
Kai Andrew and Benjamin Dawson fight for 2nd place right at the start of the heat but positions all held round lap 1 going into lap 2 however all positions change with Ben leading followed by Kyle Dunford, Kai and Owen Fitzpatrick. The group spread out after turn 3. At the latter end of lap 2 Kai and Owen battle hard for 3rd place with Owen taking position on the hairpin. All drivers are spaced out round lap 3 with Ben steaming ahead of the pack. Owen is hot on the heels of Kyle into the hairpin on lap 4 and this continues round lap 5 where Owen takes position from Kyle in the hairpin on lap 5 then Owen pulls away. All positions are held for following 2 laps with the finishing result’s being 1st Ben Dawson, 2nd Owen Fitzpatrick and 3rd Kyle Dunford.
The pack pull off together and continue round turn 3 where Zak Summerill commits an Advantage By Contact on Owen Fitzpatrick which results in Zak getting a penalty. After the first lap, Alex Whipday pulls ahead in 1st position with Drew Perry, William Green and Sam Edwards following behind. Alex continues to stretch out his lead at the front and all other drivers are spaced out apart from William and Sam who are battling for position. Going into lap 4 Sam receives a black and white bumping. William is managing to hold off Sam going into lap 5. On lap 5 William, Owen and Sam are grouped together coming out of turn 3 and stay together into lap 6 and round lap 7. Owen managed to take 3rd going through chequered making the heats result 1st Alex, 2nd Drew and 3rd Owen.
Danny Gould pulls ahead from the start with Oliver Manton and Alex Whipday moving up positions around lap 1. On lap 2 Joe Williams, Danny and Oliver are battling hard for position with Joe and Alex being particularly keen to gain positions this continues round lap 3. Turn 6 on lap 4 Oliver receives a black and white calm down. On lap 5 Alex takes place and all driver positions are held round lap 5, 6 and into lap 7. Final result; 1st Danny, 2nd Alex and 3rd Oliver.
Straight away at turn 3 on lap 1 there is an ABC by Drew Perry where he unfortunately takes out Joe Williams, Mark Whitbread and Danny Gould. Round lap 2 the group are spaced out with Kyle Dunford leading the way into lap 3. During lap 3 Gould makes a pit stop for a kart change and returns to the pits after this lap to make an early retirement. Going into lap 4, Joe and Drew challenge each other for position but all positions are held round lap 4. Mark spins on the hairpin but no other karts involved. Drivers hold their positions round lap 5 and into the final lap making final result Kyle in 1st, 2nd Alisha Palmowski and Joe in 3rd.
Unfortunately, the weather had made a change for the worse resulting in wet conditions for the C-Final. Sam Edwards made a good move on Mark Whitbread through the esses, but Sam ends up off track at turn 3. Going into the next lap, William Green is leading with Kai Andrew and Zak Summerill behind him. On turn 6, Mark spins but this was by his own doing due to the wet conditions. All positions held on laps 4 and 5 with Thomas Alman and Sam battling for position round these laps. On lap 5 Kai spins again due to wet conditions. Again all positions held round lap 8 with 1st going to William, 2nd Zak and 3rd Thomas.
William Green got to race in the B final after his C final win. Well done William. Joe Williams and Dillion Davies battle hard out of grid but no position changes round the first 3 laps as all drivers spaced out. On lap 4 William moved up to 4th position but dropped back to 5th going into lap 5. No position changes on laps 6,7 or 8. There were no more position changes with result being 1st Oliver Manton, 2nd Dillion and 3rd Joe. Manton makes it onto the back of the A-Final.
All drivers proceed through the esses in a beautifully perfect line. By turn 8 Danny had moved into 3rd from 4th but received a black and white bumping for nudging Alex Whipday. Turn 9 saw Danny in 2nd with him taking 1st through the start/finish. On lap 3 at turn 1 Alex takes 2nd position with Danny, Alex and Alisha Palmowski going through in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. No position changes round lap 4 or into lap 5. Lap 7 sees Alisha, Oliver and Kyle Dunford having a good battle but no position changes yet. On lap 9 Oliver pulls away from his little group to take 3rd place but Alisha and Kyle aren’t giving up yet chasing his tail. Final positions were 1st Danny Gould, 2nd Alex Whipday and 3rd Oliver Manton.
