SuperChamps, Round Three

Daytona Sandown Park

SuperChamps returned to Daytona Sandown Park for Round Three as the drivers turned up ready to tackle a layout new to most of the grid. The Alternate Reverse layout was used for the first time in over two years, the drivers having to adjust and learn the new layout.

Pole position in the DMAX went the way of Freddie Burden, who set a blistering 46.493 lap time. Thomas Williams joined him on the front row for the Shootout with a 46.764. Yaseen Khan took pole in the Heavyweight class with a 47.446 ahead of Warren Gomm in second place.

Burden launched perfectly from pole and immediately stamped authority on the race, pulling a commanding gap out front. This lead would only climb, with drivers behind getting stuck in for the remaining podium positions. Burden took a commanding win ahead of Archie Bullard and Adam Palmer in P2 and P3. Alfie Shrubb took the first win of the day in the Heavyweight class ahead of William Tidnam and Yaseen Khan.

The Final erupted instantly with Max Miller being pinged for a jump start as the field stormed into Turn One, confused and out of order. Miller then found himself at the heart of more on track drama as he picked up two more penalties across the race. The biggest scare came at Vale, where Fin Ions was involved in a racing incident. Thankfully, the driver was able to climb out of the kart unharmed, a huge relief for everyone watching. As the race got back underway under yellow flags, Freddie Burden was struck by mechanical issues, cruelly ending his hopes for a podium position after showing such strong pace earlier in the day. Through all the chaos, Ashton Woolger kept it clean and controlled. Stretching a massive lead, he charged unchallenged toward the chequered flag in a dominant display, despite picking up a late penalty for an infringement under the red flag. Jame Callan came home in 2nd ahead of Archie Bullard in 3rd. However, the race was not without controversy, with Woogler's win being removed after a disqualification was put in place following post-race analysis of his earlier infringement under the red-flag. The Heavyweight win went the way of Alfie Shrubb by only a tenth. Yaseen Khan had to settle for 2nd, with William Tidnam in 1st.

In the SODI class, pole position went to Ceasar Chen with a 50.843. Abay Parmar lined up alongside him in 2nd just a tenth behind. Reece Harris took pole in the Heavyweight class with a 51.374.

Chen got the jump early and led the charge, showing impressive pace as the field jostled for position behind. The moment of the race came at Turn Three, where Ledger Dimitriou made a superbly timed move to take the advantage - a pass that would ultimately put him in position for the win. The tension rose even higher with two laps to go, as Chen was involved in a controversial take-out on Dimitriou, shaking up the order just as the finish approached. Caeser Chen crossed the line in 1st, visibly frustrated knowing the penalty for the incident was coming his way. After the penalty was applied, it moved Leger Dimitriou up to the win ahead of Tyler Orridge 2nd and Jeremy Gong in 3rd. Reece Harris took victory in the Heavies.

In the Final, Ledger Dimitriou wasted no time asserting control, leading confidently from the front and managing the pace in dominant style. Behind him, misfortune struck Orridge, who was caught in an incident while running side-by-side with Abhay Parmar. The contact saw him spinning and tumbling all the way to the back. But after 25 minuets of racing, Leger Dimitriou took victory ahead of Caesar Chen in 2nd and Abhay Parmar in 3rd. Reece Harris took the win in the Heavyweight class.

Yet another epic round of SuperChamps once again here at Sandown Park. Drivers across all four classes putting on a show. We look forward to having the drivers back for Round Four on November 16th, as we return to our Grand Prix layout.

Daytona Tamworth

We returned to Daytona Tamworth for Round Three of SuperChamps, the drivers now with a foothold on their respective championship campaigns. Back on the GP layout and the GP format to boot, it was set to be an interesting round.
In the N35-ST Shootout, we saw complete domination from Brandon Barker who took advantage of battling behind to build a commanding seventeen second advantage in the overall and Lightweight categories.  Part of the reason for his lead, alongside his raw pace, was the impressive defensive driving of Amelia Charlesworth to hold onto a top three position.  Despite finishing third, she held P2 for the majority of the race - only lost out to Theo Laverty in the closing stages.  As for the Heavyweights, Harrison Fisher took a narrow victory ahead of fastest driver James Holliday, with James Stevenson in third. We saw a closer contest in the final, though the race winners in both classes were exactly the same. Brandon Barker held his P1 position, but did not have quite as strong of a lead ahead of Harry Fitch, who spent the majority of the race in an ongoing battle with Theo Laverty. Fitch got ahead of Laverty on circuit, but a track limits penalty for Laverty meant that the battle did not amount to much in terms of race positioning, Fitch being comfortable in second.  As for the Heavyweights, Fisher took his second victory in as many races, this time by three seconds. James Holliday was not as successful in this race, finishing third instead of second, James Stevenson slotting himself into the P2 position by the conclusion of the race.
The story of the day in the DMAX category was domination from Jude Lillyman, who won the first race with relative ease, three seconds ahead of Joseph Simcock and Will Kenny, who were inseparable throughout both races. In the first, however, Simcock got the second spot. Driving with more ease than he would find in the second race, two seconds ahead.  In the Heavyweights, it was a debut victory for McKenzie Senior. Lillyman's pace continued in the second race, this time winning by fourteen seconds ahead of the two battling behind. Their battle was far more interesting this time. However, separated by just over five seconds at the line, the drama came when Joseph Simcock was deemed to have made a bump and pass ahead of Will Kenny halfway into the race. The ensuing five second penalty meant that Kenny had half the race to try and get back within the margin, something that he just failed to achieve with less than a tenth of a second in an enthralling finish. There was heartbreak for McKenzie Senior, who suffered a puncture that took him out of contention for the race victory, meaning that championship leader Sonny Zacharias was able to slot into place in the lead. Senior still took a podium in third, with Kieran Glover in second.

InKart, Round Four

Daytona Milton Keynes

We welcomed a strong grid of talented young drivers to Daytona Milton Keynes for Round Four of InKart. The season now entering it's midpoint stages, the battles for all important championship points are becoming all the more significant.

Eduard Mihail Dorofte initiated the days action in the Junior division, taking the first Heat by just one second over Adam Telford in second place and Jacob Noble a further 2 seconds back in third. In the Cadets, Leo Sibthorpe took the victory by 5 seconds over Oliver Catchpole in second who just about managed to hold on to the position from Zane Williams who finished just two tenths behind. In Heat Two, Arel Kesimgil took the victory from Declan Pires with Charlie Wiltshire further behind rounding out the podium in third. Jack Dowding took the victory in the Cadets from Sean Chan in second with Caden Kavanagh taking third place. Nathanial Garai won the third Heat of the day in the Juniors by just 6 tenths over Noble in second with Dominik Gulbis picking up third place. In the Cadets it was yet again Sibthorpe that picked up the victory from Ryan Cafferkey with Williams picking up yet another third place and securing his spot in the A-Final.

In the final Heat of the day it was Rayaan Malik that took the victory after managing to hold off Charlie Wiltshire for the win with Zachary Wright picking up third place. Charlie Marden dominated Heat Four in the Cadets, setting the fastest lap for entire grid including Juniors, Teddy Mullan finished in second followed by Harry Fenton. Malik took the race victory in the B-Final after fending off Dominic Flemming who had a fantastic drive but just missed out on the win, Sarah Telford picked up the final spot on the podium. In the Cadets, Marden dominated as he took the race victory by over a minute, Chan came home in second with Logan Noah Martin in third. In the Juniors, it was a flawless drive from Noble who took the race victory, Kesimgil finished in second place and just held off Nathanial Garai scoring an impressive third place and the fastest lap. The Cadets A-Final was a bit more dramatic, as Ryan Cafferkey took victory after capitalising from an earlier mistake from Sibthorpe who impressively recovered to second place holding off Mullan on the final lap.

Yet another eventful round of InKart. We return in a months time on the Linkback & Cliff Drop layout in the Cup format.

Thursday Night League, Round Seven

Daytona Sandown Park

Thursday Night League at Daytona Sandown Park returned for Round Six, the drivers ready to tackle our Grand Prix layout. After an exciting set of opening rounds, anticipation was high for yet another evening full of excitement.

Pole Position in the DMAX went the way of Ellis Mckenzie with a 46.516. Callum Bendelow lined up alongside him in 2nd, with Frederick Burden in 3rd. The DMAX race was full of drama and excitement. Mckenzie starting well, pulling a gap out front with the rest fighting behind. Battles raged on for the entire race, the biggest being between 4th placed Jack Redfern, down to 7th placed Ian Del-pizzo. Alfie Shrubb and Deminic Szczepanski made up the rest of this battle that saw the four of them swapping positions, lap after lap. Yaseen Khan and Warren Gomm battled it out in the closing stages over the win in the Heavyweight class, a fight worth watching. But after 25 laps of racing, Ellis Mckenzie would take victory by 3.6 seconds. Callum Bendelow came home in 2nd with Freddie Burden rounding out the podium. Warren Gomm took the win in the Heavyweight class, narrowly beating Yaseen Khan who had to settle for 2nd. Thanos Tzevelekakis took a respectable 3rd.

In the SODI class it was Ash Chivers who took pole position with a 53.599 ahead of Ryan Bentley in 2nd. Row Two had Sam Barnaville and Zack Gut ready to advance. The SODI class kicked off with drama from the outset, as a Lap One chaos saw a couple drivers from further back spinning around. This was a trend for much of the race, drivers finding the limits in the drying conditions, with the cold temperatures causing the track to dry very slowly. Ryan Bentley appeared the other side of the chaos to take the win. Vivek Bhalla took 2nd ahead of Sid Stubbings 3rd. Ash Chivers took the win in the Heavyweight class ahead of championship leader Reece Harris in 2nd and Mark Abraham 3rd. The fastest laps went the way of Vivek Bhalla in the Lightweights, with a 51.560 and Ash Chivers 3rd.

Round Seven was eventful to say the least. Drama and battles across the field in both SODI and DMAX classes providing some epic racing. The grid returns to Daytona Sandown Park on the 13th of November for Round Eight.
