Daytona & Team Brit – Beyond the Track

Racing Without Limits

For the past five years Daytona Motorsport has proudly supported Team BRIT, a trailblazing force in motorsport dedicated to creating genuine opportunities for disabled drivers. But, there is a history which far precedes this, from early days in Milton Keynes, where Team Principle, Mike Scudamore took a job as a marshal, to a young Bobby Trundley taking a chance trip to Daytona Sandown Park. Over the years we've built more than a partnership, we've helped shape a more inclusive future for racing. A mantra we strive to embody in every race, mentoring young drivers towards a future career in motorsport from their very first lap around the track to their first championship victory and beyond.

Team Brit write: "Daytona Motorsport is one of our longest-standing supporters and has a fascinating history with our team and with Team Principal, Mike Scudamore. Mike has known Daytona CEO, Charles Graham for almost 30 years. Mike joined Daytona Milton Keynes as a kart track marshal after finishing university, and so began his career in motorsport, but also his connection to Charles and Daytona."

From early track days at Daytona Milton Keynes to major milestones across the UK and beyond, Daytona has been a key testing ground, training venue, and proving platform for Team BRIT drivers. Our circuits have hosted countless hours of development, driver coaching, and karting challenges that have pushed boundaries and broken down barriers. Something we continue to build in partnership with Team Brit as we introduce more opportunities for inclusive driving, most notably in recent years - our introduction of hand controls, allowing more customers to experience the joy of motorsport irregardless of disability which may otherwise prevent them from driving.

This relationship has helped drivers move from arrive-and-drive karting to full endurance racing, with Team BRIT now competing at elite levels, currently in the Britcar Championship, the first all-disabled team to do so. Making history on and off the track, everyone here at Daytona are exceedingly proud to hold this partnership and we look forward to continuing to support Team Brit for years to come.

Whether it's grassroots karting or the top level, the mission remains the same: to empower all drivers, no matter their ability and show what’s truly possible with the right support, the right team, and the right track.

Here’s to many more laps together.
