Shay’s Smiles In Partnership With Daytona

Shay’s Smiles In Partnership With Daytona

If you’ve visited the driver’s enclosure at Daytona Milton Keynes, you may have noticed a striking new banner.

It belongs to Shay’s Smiles, a charity created in memory of Shayen Patel - known to many here as Shay. A bright, kind-hearted 13-year-old who loved nothing more than racing at Daytona. Shay tragically passed away on 1st September 2020, less than two years after being diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) - a rare, aggressive, and critically underfunded form of brain cancer.

Shay and his brother Dylan shared unforgettable memories racing at Daytona Milton Keynes, and to now see Shay’s name trackside - raising awareness to help other children with brain tumours - is truly special.

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK, yet just 1% of national cancer research funding goes towards brain tumour research.

Shay’s Smiles was founded by Shay’s parents, Niki and Deanu, to raise awareness and fund vital research into GBM - helping other children and families affected by brain tumours.

We’re proud to honour Shay’s memory at the track he adored, by displaying the Shay’s Smiles banner.
