FASTER LAPTIMES AT DAYTONA SANDOWN PARK & MILTON KEYNES
As part of our ongoing commitment to kart improvements across the Daytona Group, we're delighted to announce our latest engineering feat - a performance upgrade of our 4-stroke SODI SR5s firstly at Daytona Milton Keynes, but now also at Daytona Sandown Park.
SODI drivers will experience more power, resulting in better acceleration, a higher top speed and more grip - you'll notice the difference straight away. Since we re-launched the karts, we've already seen lap records broken, with lap times up to 3-seconds faster at Daytona Milton Keynes.
The performance upgrade was finished on 15th February at Daytona Sandown Park - come and be one of the first drivers to try out the upgrades.
ENGINE UPGRADES
Daytona’s Engineering Team have affected a performance upgrade to the 4-stroke SODI SR5 fleet at Daytona Motorsport resulting in performance gain of three seconds per lap. The Honda GX270 motors have been tuned to increase compression and engine breathing. This has given increased power and resulting in a performance gain of two seconds per lap.
SOFTER COMPOUND TYRES
Tyres on the SODI karts have been swapped to Heidenau HLD, a softer tyre giving a performance gain of one second per lap on top of the two seconds gained by increased power resulting in a decrease in lap time of 2-3 seconds.
Daytona's group kart tester Dante Dhillon commented on the upgrades, "The performance upgrades deliver increased power and allow you to carry more speed into corners; there's more grip and it promotes smoother steering motion, allowing you to be more precise in your driving."
