Jamie Chadwick Series - Round Five

Daytona Tamworth

There was a light threat of rain as the Jamie Chadwick Series returned to Daytona Tamworth for Round Five of the season. All four classes are in full swing at this stage of the year, and anticipation was high for what the round might bring.

In the Junior class, Megan Gascoyne delivered a commanding victory ahead of Sarah Telford and Milena Clark. It was a hard-fought battle between the latter two, but Telford ultimately managed to snatch second place.

In the Cadets, it was a superb performance from Tamworth InKart driver Jess Kirby, who claimed a dominant win after the 25-minute A-Final. Lily Catignon, considered by many to be the favourite heading into the race, just didn’t have quite enough to get the better of Kirby, and settled for second. They were joined on the podium by Phoebe Shelton, who took her first podium finish of the season.

In the Four-Strokes, it was another excellent round for Championship leader Zoe Cattet, who secured yet another class victory, something she’s made a habit of throughout the season. Cattet earned a further one hundred points, continuing her remarkable run. She was joined on the podium by Holly Garrat, whose consistent high finishes across the two races earned her second place. Chloe Smith completed the podium, just a few points behind.

In the Intermediate class, Amelia Charlesworth enjoyed a clean sweep with two race victories and the full one hundred points from the round. It was a significant result in the context of the Championship fight. However, Chloe McNally did well to limit the damage by finishing in second, only a few points adrift. Lena Reading took third place to round out the podium.

In the Two Stroke Lightweights, a thrilling battle between Hope Wood and Iris Creese set the tone for the round. It culminated in dramatic fashion in the final Race, where Creese pulled off a brave move at the final corner to take the victory. However, despite that final win, it wasn’t quite enough to secure the overall round. That honour went to Wood, thanks to her stronger results earlier in the day. Creese finished as the round runner-up, while consistent finishes from Emma Rabbage earned her the final spot on the podium.

In the Intermediate category, it was Eliza York who took the overall victory.

InKart - Round Seven

Daytona Milton Keynes

In the Junior class, it was Rayaan Malik who set the fastest lap in Qualifying as he looked to extend his lead at the top of the Championship. Arel Kesimgil secured second place on the grid, with Charlie Wiltshire just behind in third.

In the Cadets, it was once again Gillen Townshend who claimed pole position, continuing his pursuit of a perfect Championship, needing two flawless scores in the final two rounds. Leo Sibthorpe lined up alongside him on the front row, with Teddy Mullan in third.

In the B Final, it was Alfie Kells who took a commanding victory, crossing the line 10.4 seconds ahead of Jacob Noble, who just managed to fend off Noah Johnson after a close battle for the remaining podium places.

In the Cadets, it was Sebastian Mejer, a newcomer to the Championship, who took the race win, finishing ahead of Joshua Pink, who snatched back second place from Logan Farmborough in the closing stages following a race-long scrap.

The A Final saw a closely fought contest between Kesimgil and Malik for the win. However, contact between the two saw Malik drop to fourth place, allowing Kesimgil to pull away and take the victory. Malik recovered to cross the line in second but contact at Turn Ten resulted in a position penalty, dropping him to third. Kells was the beneficiary, inheriting second place after an impressive drive from the back of the grid, having earlier won the B Final.

Townshend held on to claim the race win and the fastest lap, meaning he now needs just one more perfect round to secure maximum points in the Championship. Sibthorpe finished in second, while Jack Dowding fought his way into the podium places, taking third after a tightly contested battle.
