*PINNED POST* - live race timings
17:22 - closing words
Ladies and Gentlemen, we're sure you all have been eagerly awaiting the closing words from this epic championship. Let us tell you, the race directors have been working overtime, the podium presentation has been completed and a stable of happy drivers are making their way through a host of smash burgers to settle hungry stomachs after a day of some of the most intense championship racing we've seen in a long time.
The first two rounds of this championship were incredible, with drivers new and old coming together to take on a much loved series we have brought back. We will no doubt return to this but for now thanks to everyone who made it possible, from drivers at the back of the grid to the champions themselves - the community around every Daytona event makes it worthwhile and all the hard work from our staff has been answered with nothing short of an incredible response.
But now, for the moment you've all been waiting for. The last minute penalties were counted and champions have been crowned... their names are as follows:
Heats Light Champion: Jamie Tiley-Gooden
Heats Inters Champion: Antony Wypych
Heats Heavies Champion: Ashley Mayston-King
And with that, we close another year of the DMAX National Champs - keep an eye out on socials for updates on the round, your photos highlighting this years action and of course, the highly anticipated round videos on Youtube.
Live feed over and out.
16:34 - over the line
With one minute to go Alex Pritchard takes the fastest lap of the race in the heavies, Mayston-King now sits just behind him, still doing everything to regain the lead - Lopes-Gracvey has fallen a second behind them.
Wozniak leads the inters grid with Wypych still sitting in second and Schnitzler followijng close behind.
Past turn one Mayston-King makes contact with Pritchard just when you thought their battle couldn't get any more intense.
The chequered flag has come out as the inters pull into sight - Wozniak pulls through in first with a five second gap between himself and Wypych and a further second to Schnitzler. the rest of the pack all follow within seconds, undoubtably disappointed.
We're falling off our chairs watching the heavies cross the line as contact is made and Mayston-King is forced into the grass on turn 10 and he and Pritchard push the karts to their absolute limits trying to get enough pace to get in front of one another in their final sprint across the line.
We have just had conformation from a race control - Alex Pritchard has received a 5 second penalty from his earlier contact... this means only one thing - Ashley Mayston-King must be victorious.
16:31 - last chances
A turn 11 rowdy racing incident between Pritchard and Mayston-King is currently under investigation - could this be Lopes-Gracey's chance to get back into this race?
Wypych has slowly risen through the ranks in the inters and now muscles in on Schnitzler to retake second place. Philpot follows suit looking to take Peace down a place.
16:28 - go go go
The interweight field is shifting almost entirely, with drivers pushing one another all around the track in some messy racing. We have seen Wypych take the third spot but not without some drama causing all drivers behind P1 & P2 to fall behind the pace of said leading drivers.
Wozniak and Schnitzler still lead the inters, doing their upmost to clear as much distance as possible behind them and the hoard of drivers looking to unseat them.
Over in the heavies Pritchard has taken control, if you can call it that.
As we write this the heavies go three wide, Pritchard and Mayston-King trading places with all three throwing everything they have at this race.
16:22 - inter/heavy final
The final race of the day is moments away... all is to play for and these drivers are desperate to get into their battles and take as many points as possible into championship contention. This is the field of battle where the DMAX National Champ will be crowned.
In the first lap we see yet another 10 second penalty for Henry Lopes-Gracey for a bumper to bumper collision - will this take him out of the race all together?
This dosen't stop him from getting in amongst wit with the heavyweights as we see Mayston-King and Pritchard forming a battling trio.
In the Inters Wozniak leads a narrow distance from Schnitzler, both pushing for much needed points in the championship fight.
Behind them the pack is in turmoil, all within sight of the front and doing everything they can to bridge that gap.
16:11 - last lap
Tiley-Gooden is on his victory lap, surely finishing with a P1.
King hounds Celi through the final corners of this race desperately looking to get into P2, but Celi's defence driving is excellent.
Our drivers cross the line with fireworks, retaining their positioning but with no lack of battling.
The heats finals conclude:
P1: Jamie Tiley-Gooden
P2: Daniel Celi
P3: James King
16:10 - final moments
Tiley-Gooden is building up a bit of a lead here with 3.7 seconds between him and Daniel Celi in P2. James King sits just behind in P3 hunting down Celi and in turn P1.
16:03 - phoenix
James King emerges from the ashes of his earlier fall, now making his way into third with no signs of stopping.
15:58 - lights final
Our drivers make their way round on their formation lap as tensions rise and the championship will be decided. There is a lot riding on this final race and some questions are sure to be answered in the next 12 minutes.
The race begins with contact through virtually the entire field - Jamie Tiley-Gooden just about managing to hold onto the lead as James King falls foul of the grid wide contact falling down to fifth. The Faceless Driver has pushed through the field to get into second, while Julia Stankowiak has got into third.
There is pure chaos out on track as almost every single driver has switched positions, this is a battle of dramatic wins and losses - spectators watch on amazed praying their favourites fall on the right side of this anarchy.
15:42 - huff
Some of the most enthusiastic commentary you will ever have heard has just welcomed the heavy/inters drivers across the line. The endings were all so tight their under review, but as it stands Mayston-King takes the heavies and Wozniak takes the inters.
15:40 - heavyweight bout
The three heavies are still within .5 of each other - this has been one of the most intense bouts we've ever seen in this category.
There's contact in the inters as Wypych keeps trying ti push, this time against Elliott to get up as high as possible in those all important championship standings where every point matters more and more as these races continue.
15:38 - three wide
The Inters racers are driving in flight formation and their just as glorious - gliding round corners with dogfights going on left, right and centre. The battle for fifth is particularly interesting with former frontrunners Schnitzler and Wypych desperately trying to get in front of one another.
15:35 - show the pace
Lopes-Gracey is racing like a changed man in the heavies as we begin to see flashes of his former glory, going to-to-toe with Pritchard and Mayston-King, these three heavies are having a battle of the ages.
Wozniak, Philpot and Peace make up the top three in the Inters - all within .5 seconds of each other.
We're racing under incredibly fine margins here with prime heats racing underway.
15:32 - inter/heavy heat 3
Philpot leads the way early with James Pearce and Wozniak in tow. The front 6 drivers are all neck and neck as we get our final heat before the main race underway.
Pritchard heads up the heavies pack for now - Lopes-Gracey is on his back with .2 seconds seperating the pair.
15:23 - across the line
The drivers rocket across the line with Jamie Tiley-Gooden in P1, James King P2 and the Faceless Driver in P3. These podium contenders all within .8 seconds of each other - what a finish to an action packed race.
15:22 - swansong
King and Tiley-Gooden are near enough side by side as we near the end of the race. The Faceless Driver is within touching distance of the two of them while Simcock and Stankowiak fight with Celi just behind.
15:18 - moving mad
Huge moves are being made and the grid is switching up like you wouldn't imagine. Jamie Tiley-Gooden has ploughed his way to P1 as if he heard our scorns on the live feed. James King followed suit, making the most of the carnage and taking P2. The Faceless Driver remains headstrong in P3 while Simcock and Celi both advance into P4 and P5.
15:16 - resuming war
Jospeh Simcock does battle with the Faceless driver as battles resume and the third heats race gets going. Tiley-Gooden dosen't seem to have the same speed as his previous races as he is dwindling in P3. Behind, James King and Stankowiak push to get into the pack. The front four separated by less than a second and moves are being scouted out.
15:15 - dramatisation of the faceless driver reveal

15:10 - lights heats 3
Race restart due to a technical issue with the lights. Buckle up race fans, we're going again.
14:56 - a return to karting
There's moments left in this race. Pritchard has decreased his gap to Mayston-King and they are battling hard right up until the line with a drag race right up to the conclusion. The two battling right up until the final moment with Mayston-King taking P1 by 6 thousands of a second. The commentary team are going wild - the writer of this report is still reeling from the reveal of the Faceless Driver.
In other news, Lee Schnitzler crosses the line in P1 for the Inters with Kuba Wozniak smashing it right up until the line followed by Wypych. James Peace narrowly misses the podium in P4 with 0.5 seconds separating the four of them.
14:52 - i don't know what to say
The faceless driver has just taken off his helmet.
Tears are being shed, people don't know what to do or say.
This is a moment that will define a generation and something we all must come to terms with.
I don't feel comfortable saying who it is.
We will return to this.
14:50 - tough start
Henry Lopes-Gracey gets a penalty off the start for a bumper to bumper start - a near identical race start to Pritchard from the previous race.
Wypych battles Schnitzler for control of the inters grid - .2 seconds seperating them.
Mayston-King is in a race of his own, dominating the heavy field from early on.
14:46 - inter/heavy 2
The second inter/heavy heats has begun. Wozniak and Mayston-King look to strengthen their claim to the round and the championship race. Can Wypych return after a disastrous initial race to regain his glory from earlier rounds.
Lee Schnitzler leads off the line with Wypych and Peace in tow.
14:33 - spinner
Drivers are getting overactive on the field trying to anticipate their next attacks.
Julia Stankowiak has received a 10 second penalty as has Sam Spencer after an incident caused Daniel Celi to spin out.
The chequered flag looms as our drivers cross the line - Tiley-Gooden in first followed by Stankowiak who still has a penalty to reckon with. The Faceless Driver returns to form with a P3.
14:30 - war
Karts are being pushed wide as these drivers battle like this is their last race. The top three remain unchanged despite countless moves being made to ascend positions.
Tiley-Gooden has just taken the lead pulling a mythical move on Spencer. More bad luck comes his way as he falls to third as Daniel Celi pushes into P2.
Milburn runs in seventh place past the carnage of multiple battles while the Faceless Driver races neck and neck with Simcock.
14:27 - cluster
Absolute carnage on track as the Faceless Driver takes P1 with Sam Spencer and Stankowiak behind.
In the time it's taken to write this update the track has changes yet again, with drivers fighting tooth and nail for positions. Sam Spencer has made his way through the traffic into P1 with Tiley-Gooden in P2 and Stankowiak maintaining her P3 position with some great defensive driving.
14:22 - lights heats 2
We're back in business as the second lights heat race gets underway. It's another strong start for our drivers as lights go green and Stankowiak has a great start, the faceless Driver makes contact with Thomas Williams as these two push to get into the top three.
Daniel Celi leads at this early stage with Sam Spencer in P2, while Stankowiak is forced to drive defensively to hold off the two battling behind her.
14:11 - we're out of breath
There is more back and forth on this field than a tennis match with drivers dancing around each other. Kuba Wozniak has just taken the lead across the line followed by Sandwell and Philpot in a late race wonder move.
Mayston-King crosses the line with Pritchard breathing down his neck - Lopes-Gracey follows 5 seconds after.
14:08 - mix up
Wypych is looking to reclaim his position, mixing it up with the Heavyweight drivers on the search for his class leaders.
Meanwhile the Inters podium racers are going three wide across the track with the top 5 drivers all battling one another.
There is absolute mayhem in the commentary box as Will Stephenson spits bars like Eminem trying to dictate all of this information.
14:05 - leaders
Sandwell leads the Inters field as Wypych pulls off track into the pits.
Alex Prichard has just received a 10 second penalty for being bumper to bumper off of the race start, a less than ideal start to his Heats race.
The stage is set for Mayston-King to take this championship by storm too.
Wypych appears to have returned to the field in what may just be once of his most dramatic race appearances to date.
Justin Elliot and Kuba Wozniak are neck and neck with Sandwell in the Inters battle - all less than half a second of each other as Philpot and Schnitzler do battle just behind.
14:03- Race start
The 116 driver, David Celi has officially been disqualified for mechanical tampering.
As the race restarts, there is immense battling, Prichard goes from third to first in one monstrous move. The heavies are battling back and forth like nobodies business.
There seems to be some kind of issue with Wypych as he drops back, we suspect he may retire but he's still on track... what is this man planning?
13:58 - Full course reds explained
This momentary halt to proceedings has come after a race fault in the formation lap. Sit tight race fans we'll be back on in just a moment.
Why not take this time to take a look at the live timings, currently pinned to this post.
Our Heavies field is currently led by Mayston-king with Wypych triumphantly sitting astride the Inters drivers.
13:50 - Inter/heavy heat 1
We thought we were off to the races but magic has been declared and full course reds are out - more information to follow.
13:46 - the first heat concludes
After the first lights heat we are warmed up and ready for more racing action. the top three are as follows:
P1: James King
P2: Jamie Tiley-Gooden
P3: Joseph Milburn
Julia Stankowiak and Jospeh Simcock fought hard but missed these top spots. The Faceless Driver sits just behind in 6th - we're sure he's still got some tricks up his sleeve as this race starts to get serious.
13:45 - hard race penalties
Hard racing and lots of contact is expected in the heats format, but it won't come without risk.
The race control team are studying the argy bargy throughout this race with penalties expect to come out shortly.
13:42 - Simcock is airborne
Simcock bests Adam Palmer absolutely flying past him using the old motorsport tactic of speed over technique.
The Faceless Driver is battling hard in the mid-pack, will this man of mystery pull something out the bag later on to continue his form from the previous rounds.
Our man Milburn is putting on his magnum opus, retaking control of the podium and getting back to P3.
13:36 - flying by
The heats format is almost a different sport to endurance racing. Our drivers are leaving it all out on the track battling like wild animals to try seize control of this erratic race.
13:36 - Lonely racer
James King has pulled right to the front - our commentary team are calling this a lonely race for the seasoned champion as he begins to extend his lead.
Milburn is nearly 3 seconds behind and equally looks to extend his lead on Tiley-Gooden in third.
Stankowiak is looking to come back from the endurance race where she will no doubt be a little disappointed with her result. she's driving incredibly well and is cutting down the seconds on her closest rival.
That rival is now Milburn after Tiley-Gooden pulls a fantastic move and gets past him on the inside.
13:34 - Battles begin
Jamie Tiley-Gooden makes a strong start but gets into a bit of trouble after an altercation with Simcock and Norris. He's come out on top and rocketed into the podium racers at the front of the grid.
13:32 - We're on, the lights heats has begun
We're green for the first heat of the day and it's a great start for Joseph Milburn taking P1.
Not for long though, James King has slipped through and gone straight into pole position off of the race start.
The pack heads onto the main straight with the two aforementioned drivers pulling away and beginning to create some space.
13:25 - Roundup of the inters and heavies heats practice
The chequered has come out and attention turns towards the first lightweight heat... before that let's take a quick look into how that practice went.
Ashley Mayston-King continues his thunderous form from the endurance race, pulling over the line in P1 in the heavies, Alex Pritchard equally hits a P2 - expect even more battles hard-fought here. Henry Lopes-Gracey rounds out the podium in P3.
Antony Wypych, in his main event here tops off the grid in P1 for the inters. Fans love Wypych, his story is like no other and he's won the driver of the month award for his efforts in the first round of this championship. Will he continue his practice form to take the championship?
P2 in the inters goes to Kuba Wozniak, the hot shot who has just takes the inters endurance championship poses a huge threat to Wypych here. Another such threat comes from James Peace who has entered the race conversation with a huge early statement here.
13:10 - Roundup of the lights heats practice
Jamie Tiley-Gooden, hometown hero has just topped the lights practice before the heats kick off. James King, fresh off the endurance podium is easing himself into the race with a solid P2 and Daniel Celi rounds out the podium in P3. Not even a second separates P1-6, this race is going to be intense...
13:00 - Lights heats practice
"I'm sure these heats races will bring a few spins, a couple crashes and a lot of drama" - Will Stephenson, Commentator number 2, the bad boy of Daytona Milton Keynes.
12:50 - The Heats is on the horizon
Before we jump into the action, here's something to wet your whistle: our full breakdown of the story of the heats so far.
Lightweight Heats – the story so far & predictions
In Athletics terms, endurance racing is can be compared to the 1,500 metres – calculated, maintaining pace over a long distance, biding your time to make your move. Heats racing, by contrast, is closer to the 110m hurdles – fast-paced, chaotic, full of obstacles, and many talented drivers fall short before the end.
The Lightweights in Round One was the biggest grid we’ve seen so far, with 20 participants, and was by far the most hectic.
The shadowy Faceless Driver showed their class on this outing, winning a heat, finishing one second, and then winning the final to secure 114 championship points. Jack O’Neill was his closest competitor on the day but missed Round Two and hasn’t signed up for the finale. Jamie Tiley-Gooden finished third on the day, after securing P2 in the final.
Charlie Foster, recently crowned SuperChamps champion at Sandown Park, finished in fourth ahead of 2024 champion of champions Dom Balasaitis, with WPR Racing’s Thomas Williams two points ahead of Karlis Elmanis.
Here’s how the final went down:
Fast forward three months, to Round Two at Daytona Tamworth.
Andrew McWilliam, former kart tester and tutor the venue, decided to join the round just to prove a point, and won the Lightweights class comfortably.
Jamie Tiley-Gooden finished the round in second place, with long-term rival Dom Balasaitis in third.
Charlie Foster finished in fifth place, one place ahead of James King, who had a mare in Round One. The Faceless Driver was all the way down in seventh.
So where does that leave us for the final?

Jamie Tiley-Gooden is leading the way and looks to be the firm favourite going into the final round. He’s on his home track – a track he’s won so many races and championship titles.
Those who are more embedded into the Daytona community might have seen him working as a Milton Keynes kart tester. But fear not – out of respect for this contest we haven’t allowed him to drive a DMAX around our circuit until it concludes.
The Faceless Driver, currently in P2. Well, we don’t know. He could still win the championship – but it’s unknown how much experience he has racing at Daytona Milton Keynes.
Charlie Foster, currently in P3, is a notable absence from the final, he’s had to take a sabbatical from the sport.
Three points behind Foster is fourth-placed Dom Balasaitis. He proved in January that he’s got what it takes to beat Tiley-Gooden when it counts, when he was crowned 2024 champion of champions. He’s one to watch this afternoon.
We should probably mention James King. He’s not going to win the championship, but his local experience is unrivalled, meaning he could win the race and cause upset.
Thomas Williams and Julia Stankowiak could also end up on the podium too.
There’s a maximum of 125 points up for grabs today.
A deep dive into the Inters Heats
As a reminder, the Inters will share a track with the Heavies today. There will be a decent gap between their race starts, so hopefully they don’t obstruct one another.
It’s that young man, Mr Antony Wypych, in control of proceedings as it stands.
In Round One he made a name for himself, beating series veteran Owen Jenman right at the last to claim P1, after racer leader James Dowding received a crippling penalty that dropped him down to fifth.
Ross Sandwell put on a strong show, finishing in third place ahead of pro-racer-turned-YouTuber Brad Philpot, who had never raced at Sandown Park before that round.
Alfie Shrubb, a Sandown Park regular, finished in sixth place.
In Tamworth last time round, Wypych won the final after polesitter Ross Sandwell was embroiled in an early red flag incident with Alfie Shrubb, effectively ruining the pair’s final.
Sandwell’s high scoring heats meant he finished the day second overall, although it was Justin Elliott who finished the final in P2, after some epic battles with third-placed Bradley Philpot. Elliott was electric on the day.
Kuba Wozniak performed well in the Heats, but a disappointing final saw him finish the day in fifth place.

So where does that leave us?
Antony Wypych is the obvious choice to take the crown after his previous two wins – but it’s not a given – he’ll have to dig deep after his exploits in the endurance earlier on today.
Unlike at our other two circuits, third-placed Brad Philpot is hugely experienced at Daytona Milton Keynes – he’s been racing here since 2009.
Ross Sandwell has been consistent throughout this championship and will fancy himself for the podium
Justin Elliott has just come from a strong performance in the Endurance - will the intensity of the past hour of racing have tired him out or left him wanting more after such a good drive which frustrating left him in P4 just shy of the podium.
Kuba Wozniak - what more needs to be said. He's just stormed the Endurance and secured a P1 in the third and final round. He's fresh off the podium from winning not only the round but the championship himself. Wozniak has the world at his feet - this arguably is his to lose if he keeps up his current form. However, like Icarus, has this talented young driver flown too close to the sun? Could he be at risk of being burned and falling from grace? Let's find out.
And finally – the Heavies Heats
Alex Pritchard won the R1 final at Sandown Park to finish one point behind Will Tidnam, who was dominant winning two heats and finishing second in the other.
Ashley Mayston-King had a troublesome round, finishing in fourth place, behind Henry Lopes-Gracey.
However, Ashley would bounce back in Round Two, winning the round in Tamworth after a penalty in the final left race-leader Alex Pritchard fuming after he was relegated to P3.
Due to the small nature of this grid, anything is possible in this category – there’s ten points separating first and third.
A winning display in all four events from Lopes-Gracey could see him crowned champion.
Mayston-King is a very well-known and respected character here at Daytona Milton Keynes, and Alex Pritchard is the reigning champion in this category.
This one is going down to the wire.
Practice is just about to kick off, the drivers are in place, the stage is set. Let's race!
12:00 - Podium Presentation
Ladies and Gentlemen, the endurance race brought more battles, drama and intensity that you could ever imagine. This has been a hard fought championship and a well deserved set of podiums and victories this afternoon.

These three enter the halls of the Daytona elite and will go onto test drive Ginetta racing cars as a part of their prize. Words cannot express the heights of this achievement, and this opportunity. Well deserved, hard fought, congratulations lads.
11:34 - made it
Daniel Varlan storms the field to take first in the Lights, followed by Burden and James King.
Schnitzler takes the Inters win with 6 seconds between him and Wozniak in second - Hawtin secures P3. Is that enough for Wozniak to secure the championship?
Mayston-King dominates the heavies followed closely by Pritchard, Nakar behind him.
11:32 - down to the wire
Varlan at the end of the circuit is trying to extend his lead as much as possible with a real chance of knocking King off the top spot and sealing his championship victory at the last possible moment.
11:31 last two laps
We're in the final laps of this race as yellow flags go out at turn 5 with a driver breaching the curb.
11:29 - final 5 mins
We're into the final 5 minutes of the race - the atmosphere is electric, the drivers have pulled their socks up and are giving this race everything they've got. Penalties have stopped coming in, lines are tight, the weather is lovely.
Varlan is doing a fantastic job against King, looking to take his top spot within the championship. What looks like a 1 on 1 battle has so much more weight behind it as Varlan has a fastest lap bonus point under his belt too.
11:28 - Lightwork
King and Burden have been trading places - this battle still raging on.
Further back Mayston-King still leads the Heavies in front of Pritchard who has dropped right back now, dejected from penalties no doubt.
11:26 - Schnitzler might have this
Local lad Schnitzler is looking to take a win despite a total of 10 seconds delaying him from penalties. He is digging in and trying to extend his lead on Wozniak. With 6 mins on the timer this is a big big ask, but if there's one man who can do it...
11:23 - Lights silver battles
Burden and King have a run in as the latter fights for silver in this bloodmatch. For all the intensity on the field a spectator might forget that Burden still has a five second penalty anchoring his results.
11:20 - Where are we
As we enter the final 15 mins of the race Mayston-King leads the heavies, his closest competitor Pritchard falling foul of two 5 second penalties and losing pace as we speak.
The Inters field is led by Schnitzler, he has a couple penalties to his name but his pace speaks for itself. Kuba Wozniak has battled him lap by lap but the field is beginning to spread out with anything from 1-10 seconds between each driver.
The Lights field is full of drama with Varlan leading by a long long way. Burden and King do battle for P2, while Stankowiak and Spencer take on a epic battle for P4.
11:14 - Pritchard no!
We have just had conformation of a second 5 second penalty for Alex Prichard. His first for a bump and pass overtake - this, yet another track limits. Prichard is still neck and neck with Mayston-King but this penalty is going to make this very tricky for him, especially with one of the best Heavyweight drivers to ever race at Daytona in front of him.
11:12 - Light of my life
Daniel Varlan leading by around 10 seconds on the lights field.
King battles Freddie Burden and Burden throws it a little wide round turn 10, a mistake we've seen him make a couple times this race. He's got to tighten things up here if he wants to stand a chance against such surgically precise drivers.
11:09 - Another one?
Will Kenny and Antony Wypych have both received another track limits penalty. An real gutter of a result for all fans... Their race is strong but with these penalties it may be impossible to come back into top spot contention. We've seen miracles happen before though, cross your fingers and your toes for these racers everybody.
11:05 – Halfway point championship breakdown
As we reach the half way point in the race, take a look at our full breakdown of each class and their season so far...
Lightweight Three-way tussle: Deep Analysis
You can’t ever accurately predict anything in this sport – but here’s a quick look into the numbers that suggest James King as the bookies favourite for this category.
He’s won 13 rounds of SuperChamps at this venue – claiming the title twice. He’s been on dozens of Thursday Night League podiums. He’s won the 24 Hours – twice – as part of the KBR team. He’s even won a 6-hour endurance racing solo. When we tried to research how many Sprint Races, he’s taken part in, our system froze. He’s a one-man wrecking force at this track – yet his demeanor is calm and humble, and he always takes time to mentor young drivers coming through the ranks.
One such youngster, is 17-year-old Julia Stankowiak, who’s been racing at Daytona Milton Keynes since she was a Bambino.
We first became aware of Julia when she burst onto the scene during last season’s Jamie Chadwick Series, where as one of the youngest competitors, she finished in fifth place in the DMAX category.
She’s matured a lot over the past 24 months and has been a fierce competitor in this year’s JCS, winning both of the Milton Keynes rounds so far, she finds herself in second places. She’s dipped in and out of SuperChamps and Thursday Night League championships and is currently third place in the EKS championship. She’s won dozens of races and finished on countless DMAX podiums – she’s improving race after race.
She’s spent a lot of time under the tutelage of King, who has helped coach Stankowiak through her various competitions – and at Tamworth last round, it was a case of student beats master.
16-year-old Daniel Varlan is another fine example of a local Daytona driver progressing through the ranks. He only completed Race School in 2021, and has won rounds of InKart and Junior Sprint League before graduating to SuperChamps, where he is no stranger to a podium. He could cause a major upset today if he brings his A-game.
Endurance Inters: Wozniak vs Wypych
Two young lads with Polish heritage, both 18 years old, both extremely talented.
When you look at the race on paper, you’d have to say Kuba Wozniak is the favourite – he’s had so much experience at this circuit – racing here since he was a Bambino, winning InKart, SuperChamps, the Daytona Race of Champions, several endurance races – he’s also a wet weather specialist. He’s raced at this circuit nearly 200 times.
Antony Wypych is more of a dark horse. He’s visited Daytona Milton Keynes just five times – just 2.5% of the time Wozniak has spent here. Plus, he had a mare at SuperChamps the weekend just gone.
But – he’s got something special - he proved that in the first round - having never raced at Daytona Sandown Park and beating most of the veterans to make a name for himself.
Wypych started racing at Daytona Tamworth in 2020, progressing from Race School to InKart over two years. He then disappeared from our radar for a few years, before coming back to win SuperChamps last season.
There’s one point separating these two going into the final race.
Wypych, by the way, is leading the Heats category by 17 points – the biggest lead by anyone in this championship. He could become a double champion today.
Endurance - Any upsets on the cards?
We’ve got some first-time entrants for this round, as we’ve seen at other rounds. Local drivers seem to like to enter for one round to disrupt proceedings and test themselves against quality drivers from across our community.
In the Lights, Freddie Burden has joined the grid. He’s a local young SuperChamps driver who took part in the Race of Champions earlier this year, and has found himself on the podium here a fair few times here at Daytona Milton Keynes. Joshua Spencer has also entered the fray, relatively unknown at this venue.
In the Inters, we welcome James Peace into the competition, again, a little less known than some of the drivers here today.
There are no new Heavies, but we welcome back Adam Nakar, who missed R2, essentially handing the podium to Alex Tucker.
Endurance Inters: Justin Elliott vs Olly Cooper-Welton
This one is a battle to watch today.
45-year-old Justin Elliott had a frustrating Round One, finishing eighth overall, however he dug deep in Round Two to finish third and resuscitate his podium hopes.
Cooper-Welton, by contrast, finished sixth in the first round and fourth in the second. There are only two points between them going into today’s final.
They’re both immensely experienced racers – with Elliott winning a SuperChamps title here last year.
Cooper-Welton, five years Elliott’s senior, has a racing accolade list as long as an arm – he spends a lot of time racing in the USA these days.
11:00 – Inters drama
Lee Schnitzler has just received a five second penalty for breaching track limits - this could really shake up the inters field as the local lad begins to lose his grip on the class.
10:55 – 126
Alex Tucker in the 126 kart has just received a second penalty for exceeding track limits in a nail biting performance as he tries to claw back control while falling back in the heavy field.
10:51 – the heavy battle rages
Alex Pritchard exchanges blows with Mayston-King pushing to take control of the heavy race. Mayston-King must be sweating as Pritchard is absolutely all over him...
Much like we're going to be soon with one of Daytona's famous smash burgers - our kitchen is serving food all day!
10:49 – chargers
Alex Pritchard has been on the hunt over the past few laps, reducing his lap times and closing the gap between him and heavy race leader Mayston-King. Now .2 seconds between them with that figure dropping as this message is typed. Can Mayston-King hold on?
10:48 – A sad day
5 second time penalty to Antony Wypych for excessive time limits - could this be a crucial blow to his championship chances in the endurance. He currently sits P7 in the race and P2 in our overall championship standings. Absolutely heartbreaking for fans of the Tamworth local who stole hearts with an incredibly underdog performance in R1 of this cinematic championship.
10:46 – heavy heroes
Ashley Mayston-King holds off Alex Pritchard with a second between them. This is more than just a battle as Mayston-King must maintain his lead if he wants to stop Pritchard from taking the championship title.
10:40 – play nice
5 second time penalty for Will Kenny after contact at turn 10 with championship contender Antony Wypych. Our eagle eyed race con colleagues are remaining vigilant to keep this race fair and contact to an absolute minimum.
10:39 – hunter
Daniel Varlan still leads the lights but feels the breath of James King on his neck.
King, a MK regular is getting into his rhythm and lowering his lap times as he hunts down P1.
10:34 – Argy bargy
It really is all to play for where after a initial red flag race restart we see drivers from all classes mixing it up, driving shoulder to shoulder and battling for positions.
10:33 – Race start
Green lights are out and we're underway with James King making a huge first move on Varlan to attempt a P1 takeover right off the bat. Varlan managed to hold him off...for now.
Wypych stakes his claim to the Inters field going right into P4 from race start.
10:31 – Strangers appear
Lee Schnitzler and Adam Hawtin appear... they are strangers to this championship but well known to Daytona. Immediately shaking up the field and taking the front spots in the Inters field. They are racing for pride here with no statistical chance of winning the championship. Thesae local hero's are representing all the karting community from MK and clearly doing a good job of it.
10:28 – King favourite?
Our commentary team highlight James King as their favourite for the Lights in this race - Amber Jones highlighting his recent 6 hour endurance race solo win. Stephenson highlights Julia Stankowiak being no pushover in this class but she will have to dig in if she wants to take on the veteran, King.
10:26 – full track reds
The race start is under investigation as we see full course reds grace the course and a track full of drivers amped up for an endurance race waiting with immense anticipation for this race to get underway.
10:21 – rolling start
Will Stephenson comments on the championship run getting complicated as many of our class leaders sit back in the pack as we roll towards race start.
Engines are on, the drivers are primed and its time to settle this championship once and for all.
10:14 – weight check
The drivers have pulled off track and cross the weight bridge for that all important post quali weight check before the main event kicks off.
This gives us a chance to look at the leaders from each of these classes going into the endurance.
Our Heavy leader is Ashley Mayston-King, Lee Schnitzler heads up the Inter field taking P2 our of all the drivers on track with some lightening pace, he didn't have quite enough to best our Lights leader Daniel Varlan though who fronted this group of incredibly skilled drivers.
10:10 – Qualifying concludes
Julia Stankowiak running incredibly quickly out on track as the chequered flag comes out. Her great pace can't catch the likes of Varlan though, who leads the pack in as we conclude qualifying.
10:08 – the racing voice
Joining us in the commentary booth is Amber Jones and our very own Will Stephenson. They'll be the voices behind the action today, taking us through all the dramas on and off the track.
10:04 – Qualifying begins
Daniel Varlan leads the pack as the qualifying gets underway. the drivers are settling in and testing the field as our DMAX fleet warms up for a big day of racing.
09:58 – Endurance: counting down the seconds
Qualifying for the DMAX National champs is mere moments away. As we hear the roar of engines from the commentary booth.

09:00 – Endurance: the story so far
Round One was all about the old guard – returning veterans Owen Jenman and Jack O’Neill won in the Inters and Lightweight classes respectively, with KBR’s Ashley Mayston-King winning in the Heavyweights comfortably ahead of Alex Pritchard in second and Alex Tucker third.
Jenman was embroiled in the dual of the year between him and Anthony Wypych, beating him on the final corner after exchanging positions for lap after lap. By contrast, O’Neill won the contest emphatically. The winning pair, however, were absent from Round 2, the teammates and friends were at a wedding instead. Priorities?! That absence essentially rules them out of the contest.
James King finished the first-round runner-up to O’Neill in the Lights, with Daniel Varlan in p3. In the Inters, Kuba Wozniak finished third place behind Wypych.
Three months later, Round Two took place at Daytona Tamworth. The story of the Lightweight Endurance Class had to be young Julia Stankowiak’s heroics. James King led the race for most of the hour, only for Julia to make her way past him three-quarters of the way through and hold him off to take victory. Daniel Varlan finished in third place for the second round in a row.
Going into today’s final, James King currently sits top of the standings, with a pair of silver medals, just one point ahead of Julia. Daniel Varlan sits comfortably in third place. The trio are on their home track – more on that later.
In the Inters, one point also separates class leaders Kuba Wozniak and Anthony Wypych. Wozniak won comfortably in Tamworth – beating Wypych on his home track – and now returns to his home territory in Milton Keynes to attempt to get the job done, as he has so many times before. He was the 2023 champion of champions, after all.
The battle for the final Inters podium step is between veterans Olly Cooper-Welton and Justin Elliott – the latter the only one of the pair to have achieved a podium in this series so far. The pair have karting accolades as long as an arm – with Elliott winning a SuperChamps title at Daytona Milton Keynes last year – and both will fancy their chances.
In the Heavyweights, Ashley Mayston-King is the hot favourite, winning comfortably in Round Two, where the finishing grid had an identical order to Round One. Mayston-King is on home turf for the final – on the track in which he’s completed thousands of laps. It would take a miracle – and a sprinkle of misfortune for Ashley - for Alex Pritchard to claim the title today. The pair will do battle twice today – first in the endurance this morning, and then again in the heats, which Pritchard is leading going into the final.
